whey protein benefits

Whey protein is an excellent source of protein to use when recuperating from exercise. Whey protein is digested easily and quickly, typically within 30-60 minutes. Rapid digestion is essential for muscle tissue repair. Your body needs quality protein and complex carbohydrates within 90 minutes of completing exercise in order to maximize anabolic activity(muscle tissue growth & repair).

Whey protein is sold in powder form and mixes easily with water. There are other sources of protein powder such as: egg, casein, soy and buckwheat. However, these protein sources digest at a slower rate than whey.
